Overall, like the helmet. Comfortable and fits according to Bell sizing chart. For a half helmet, like the added comfort of the base material, and, also the outer shell materials are a bit stronger and higher quality construction than you often see in other half helmets. Now, about the "mouth muzzle." It DEFINTELY takes some practice to add it/put it on once you've got the helmet on. When the helmet arrived, I looked in the mirror for my first several tries to get the muzzle magnetic clips to line up and fit in the helmet holders. However, in 'real world' use . . . this helmet, on the road, stopping for gas, to pee, to eat, whatever, you're likely not going to have access to a mirror to line up the clips and get them to attach (other than your bike mirror which is inadequate). So, let me say, putting on the muzzle "roost guard," without a mirror, takes practice. The clips simply do not line up easily or attach quickly. You have to keep feeling with your fingers to get them to line up and attach. I have practiced multiple times and am getting better at it, (for me I have to gently twist one of the attachment brackets inward to get a good alignment). Also, I find the double d chin strap is my least favorite design; while it works well once attached, it's always, for me, a bit of a 'hit or miss' getting the strap thru the rings, then getting it back thru/looped a second time before snapping. Whats wrong with the easy push quick release in latch designs? But back to the muzzle . . . IF you expect to easily remove the muzzle (that's quite easy actually) and THEN attach it back (for me, a lot harder), and you don't have access to a mirror to see the alignment, just practice at home before you get on the road. Finally, I would note the price. It seems that compared to other Bell half-helmet designs and certainly other manufacturers, you're paying EASILY an extra $100 or MORE, just for the muzzle piece? I mean it's just made out of some kind of synethic rubber stuff with a small breather/liner. Cool and unique design; yes, (although there is a competitor company that has the same design for about $150 or so less!) but the muzzle is a bit awkward to attach, and know there is very little you can do to adjust it to custom fit. True, there is one small adjustment you can make by removing some screws, adjusting, then of course screwing the flat head screws back in, but, for me, the muzzle falls just below my nose, OR, painfully covers it, and I'm not sure if I like that or not (just need some time wearing it for sure). So, I give this 'mid range' ranking, probably largely dinging it on the price. I'm not sure this is, with tax, an almost $300 helmet?OK. Two weeks later after a number of trips with it, I REALLY like this helmet. Nothing else looks like it (if that's important to you, it has a HIGH cool factor!) . . two, it's very comfortable on the old noggin, and, I'll add, the open face design is just better for peripheral vision challenges. Also in addition to loving the muzzle look, also like the air circulation around the mouth/nose while also giving some protection to the most common stuff that hits you, bugs... and, yes, even small stones it will/should deflect. Finally, I'll add I'm getting better putting on the muzzle while wearing the helmet. It helps to attach one side of it before putting on the helmet, carefully holding it in place while you put on the helmet and it then makes attaching the other side much easier. All said . . . Increasing rating to Four stars!
