Bought for daughters college bike. So fsr so good at keeping thieves at bay.I was nervous that this lock was going to be wimpy. It is sturdy. I don't live in New York City so the lock hasn't been challenged by bike thieves yet. It does the trick.Someone tried to steal my bike, they were able to get through the rubber insulation but they couldn't break the lock. I am happy I purchased this product.The lock is easy to use and I feel very secure looking my electric scooter to any bike rack.The U-Lock works as supposed to. It’s easy to lock and unlock. It also came with a holder to put on the bike, however it didn’t come with instructions so I hope I did it right. Works great and price is amazing!The key gets jammed all the time and makes it impossible to lock. Looks like the attacker tried to use a bar or the frame of the bike or both to pry it open, but no dice. Twisted the U pretty good, but it held strong. I bent it back enough to use again, but it's pretty mangled, so I'm in here to buy another one. Cheaper than a new bike! My misgivings about the mount were off base. The mounting hardware has been fine, but the screws do loosen in time, causing the unit to slide down. A couple of lock washers will fix that.Upgrading to 5 stars to thank this bruiser for its service.Original review follows:As advertised: This is a sturdy lock. I haven't tried to break it, but anyone who did would have to be committed. For security, this gets a high grade.The trouble is: it's a TANK. A big, heavy anchor that strains the little plastic mount that comes with it. I'm legit wondering if the mounting hardware will hold up to urban cycling. The bar is an oblong shape instead of round - probably makes it harder to cut or something - and that limits the available positions for the lock side of the mounting bracket. On a round lock one could pin it 360 degrees and find the right position to snug it into the frame and minimize the weight on the mount. With an oblong or oval bar, its inside, outside or cock it sideways and torque the screws til it stays put.I'm not worried about this lock being broken in most short-lock scenarios.
